The internet is mysterious and what works for some might not work for others.
You have:
You have:
- Youtube
- Your own website
- Mailing lists
- Amazon
- Kindle
- Itunes
- Soundcloud
- Live events
- And more
What surprises me the most is that what works for some might be a total fail for others.
Sometimes, I see a page on facebook and I think... "That guy must be doing great on Youtube..." I go and check it out and... nothing. He's getting no pull on his videos and is virtually unknown on this medium.
Then I meet another author who is extremely present in a facebook page but then has absolutely no presence on their personal website.
Someone else might have great live events and workshops but then no online videos at all
A very popular instagram user might be totally unpopular on facebook.
Why is that?
It is because these various mediums have different audiences.
Some people are good with videos, others with images and other with inspirational posts and texts.
So, when it comes to having an impact you might be surprised to see what works for you.
I talk about this because it is fascinating for me to observe my own evolution.
I Had my first big success advertising on google with adwords.
Then Itunes podcasts.
Then exposure for search engines or seo.
And then selling my ebooks on amazon, kindle, ibooks and more.
It is as well fascinating to answer that question for my clients who want to want to be virtual entrepreneurs because I don't think that a fixed simple solution works for everyone.
These are like different musical instruments and getting a good feeling for one doesn't mean you are good with any instrument.
The best way to find out what works for you is try them all.
Another metaphor is the feeling that you get in different cities or different countries. Some people feel great in New York, some others will prefer L.A.
Some people want to live in Asia and others prefer Europe.
Experiment and start playing.
You will see that a certain resonance with your audience naturally kicks in. You can then follow this thread.
It's natural and fun.
Enjoy!
